Back in the desert town of Ca’astings, Tempest and White Glory made their way toward the doctor’s house. Their presence did not go unnoticed, as many people stared and made comments about the small white creature following Tempest around. Tempest paid no mind, there were a lot more stranger things that could happen. As he reached the doctor’s house he could see the door was open. He peeked inside hoping to find the old man, Mr. Storm. Who was there wasn’t him, but an late aged woman. She was alone in the main room holding a beaker of medicine in her hand. Her pale yellow dress was covered by a white apron. “Hello Tempest.” She said with a smile, “Did you find what you were looking for?”.
“Yes ma’am.” He responded pulling out the flowers from his satchel. He handed out the vibrant purple flowers to the woman who then took them after she set the beaker down.
“I’ll need some time to prepare the medicine. Till then can you go check on Whirlwind’s son for me? I gave him some medicine a while ago, but I can’t go see how he’s doing on it. Would you mind seeing him and letting me know how he’s doing?”
“I will go do that..” Tempest responded a little concerned.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be able to go back to your house as soon as the medicine is finished. I’m pretty sure Gale is taking care of her mother just fine.” She said with a smile. Tempest nodded his head and then walked out of the door he had stepped into.
Heading over to the western part of town Tempest walked into a small hut of a house. There a middle aged gentleman was angrily rushing about his house. His black hair was messy and he wore somewhat ragged clothing. Tempest stood near the distracted man as he angrily mumbled to him, “What are you doing here? Do you have something you need?”.
“I’m here to check up on your son. Dr. Storm sent me.” Tempest said.
The angry man took a look at him and then went back to rushing about, “He’s in his bedroom, go ahead and look for yourself.” Tempest let the man go back to his work while he approached a rotted door and lightly opened it.
Inside the very tiny bedroom laid a small bed with a boy around the age of ten lying in bed. He moved his head to look at Tempest. White Glory edged inside the room so she had room to move. The boy took notice, “What a pretty birdie. It looks different from what daddy tells me, though.”
She stared at the boy with a “I’m not a bird” look. Tempest nudged her a bit, “He’s hardly been outside since he was born. Just recently has Dr. Storm found a medicine that may have helped him at a stable level.” He whispered. He then turned his attention toward the boy, “ how are you feeling today, Breeze?”
The small boy made a slight cough, “Good today.. The headaches have stopped hurting. Daddy says if I’m really good enough he’ll take me outside today.”
“That’s great to hear.” Tempest said with a small smile of reassurance, “I have to go now. You get nice and healthy so you can go outside ok?”
“Ok.” Breeze said, “Will you and the birdie play with me when I am able to go outside?”
“Sure.” Tempest said as he and White Glory exited the room.
Before they left the rickety shack, Whirlwind stopped them, “Tell that doctor that she better find more of the stuff for that medicine. It’s working better for him then the other stuff he had been getting.”. With that he went back to rushing about. Tempest decided not to bother him any longer and return back to the doctors office. When he returned Mr. and Mrs. Storm stood near their counter of medicines.
They both looked up as Tempest entered the main area. “Ah, Tempest you’re back! What news do you have of little Breeze?” Mrs. Storm questioned.
Tempest explained his condition and what his father had said. “Wonderful! That means the medicine was a success! Here, I have the medicine you needed. It’s the same as always and since you brought the flowers yourself I added an extra amount.” She said as she handed a flask of a purple liquid to him.
“Thank you Dr. Storm, it’s much appreciated.” Tempest said.
“You’re very welcome. By the way… Where did you find your new little friend? It’s been ages since I’ve seen a creature like her.” She pointed out White Glory. Mr. Storm nodded, “White dragons have been said to be the messenger of the gods and are often quite rare. In fact, I think the last one we have seen was when your father went on his journey twenty years ago…”.
“That’s right! Except that one didn’t have a crest and it’s eyes were blue instead of green.” Dr. Storm added. Tempest looked confusingly at White Glory who, in turn, look just as confused as he did.
He turned his attention back to the older couple. “I found her at the ruined house and invited her to come back home with me….” He didn’t say anymore of the situation.
Dr. Storm smiled, “Well I have a feeling that you both have a long journey before you.”.
Tempest was unsure of what she meant. “T-thank you again for the medicine… I must be off now.” He stated as he quickly headed out and back to his house.
The couple looked off towards the doorway he left. “That boy is exactly like his father was back then..” Mr. Storm said for his wife to hear.
“I agree… I wonder if he will find comrades during his journey just as his father had found us.” Dr. Storm responded.
“Time will only tell, dear.” He stated as they both went back to their work.
